communication WITH parents

    • To support and advocate for their child

    • To provide them with a nurturing environment

    • To support their social emotional development outside of school

    • To understand and adhere to EFAM’s philosophy, values, curriculum and mission.

    • To keep them safe and secure outside of school

    • The role of the school is to educate the students and deliver instruction in accordance to the French and English language curriculum

    • To create, update and make decisions in regards to curriculum content and testing

    • To create a framework of values by which the school operates

    • To support their social emotional development with their peers in school

    • To keep them safe and secure in school

    • To make decisions concerning school organization, projects, management, staff, operational strategy and execution

    • Contact the teacher via school email for questions or concerns.

    • Ask the teacher for a meeting to discuss important matters.

    • Teachers will respond to emails by the next school day when school is in session.

    • Do include the administration in any communication to the teacher regarding important information concerning the child (family, health, other matters).

    • Do reach out to the administration when an issue is recurring and after the teacher has already been contacted.

    • In case of an emergency, contact the administration by email and/or telephone.

    • The teachers will reach out to parents whenever they have a concern with a student (including napping, eating… etc).

    • In PreK and K, a “cahier de vie” is a special notebook in which class activities are pasted and sent home to be shared at the end of the week.

    • Pictures of school activities are posted daily on EFAM’s Instagram page; new articles on class activities are posted on EFAM’s website daily; a schoolwide newsletter is sent periodically throughout the year.

    • Do not contact the teacher via their personal number, email or social media (including WhatsApp).

    • Do not discuss important matters at drop-off and pick-up.

    • Teachers will not discuss important matters over email; they will set up a video conference instead.

    • If your child encounters a problem with a classmate during school hours, remember that EFAM faculty is responsible for the students during school hours. Reach out to us as the initial point of contact. Please avoid contacting the classmate’s family directly without informing us first. If needed, EFAM will take the necessary steps to communicate with the classmate’s family.

    • When in charge of their students, teachers will prioritize managing their class; they will not be available to speak on the phone or to respond to emails.

    • EFAM operates as a school, starting in PreK 3. No daily reports on eating, sleeping or student progress will be shared by EFAM staff.

    • Some EFAM teachers may choose to have a class newsletter or post pictures on their Google Classroom or Class Dojo. This is not a school policy and is not mandatory at EFAM.
